The Art Department at Kelmscott School offers an AQA Art, Craft and Design GCSE meaning that we can offer different strands under this umbrella. Students are able to develop creative skills in different areas and using a range of equipment , materials and processes as well as their critical thinking skills utilising resources made by the team and provided in our handbook for all abilities of literacy. The schemes of learning in Key stage 3 prepares the students for Key Stage 4 with the use of good quality sketchbooks so that students know how to present their work creatively.

We endeavour to ensure that all GCSE students have the opportunity to pursue their own ideas within the themes given.
Art and Design is a fine art course where students will spend time printmaking, painting and creating art, craft and design using a range of fine art media which often includes some textiles if students wish to explore this in year 11.
Photography Students develop skills in Photoshop, Lightroom, studio lighting and equipment, DSLR cameras and graphic design all supported with research and, drawing and experimentation in on paper while the portfolio is presented online.
Creative Digital Art Students develop and hone their ideas through Photoshop, Photography, digital composition and either film making or animation in year 11.
All require a passion for creating and drawing, developing ideas and being interested in the world around us to seek inspiration from.
As Albert Einstein said “Creativity is Intelligence Having Fun”
